Beetles, Butterflies & Gillian Ayers
Stopped by Cardiff Museum and Gallery to see the Gillian Ayres exhibition (Running from the 08 April - 03 September, 2017). An early pioneer of abstract painting, this is the largest exhibition of her work ever to be shown in the U.K. Her work resembles exploding butterflies and squashed beetles, as an artist and long time art history student, I can assure you this was definitely her intention.
Inspired, we swung by the beetles, trilobites, and an Agatha Christie exhibition. The photos on display appear to insist that Agatha had lived through the entire span of human existence. Unfortunately the animatronic Mammoth wasn't working that day, so I remain unconvinced of her ice age adventures.
